The Macadamia nut is arguably the hardest of all tree nuts to crack and there have been several ways of cracking them to get to the delicious kernel inside.
The aborigines used special rocks with indentations to hold the nut while they hit it with another rock. Other people have used hammers with the usual problem of hitting fingers and thumbs or miss-hitting the nut and see it flying off to some obscure spot.
